COMMON TESLA POWERWALL QUESTIONS
Can I add a Powerwall to my existing solar system? Adding a Powerwall 2 to an existing solar system is something Dunton Group have done on numerous occasions. Powerwall 2 (AC) can be coupled with any solar power system, so if you have existing solar and would like more information on batteries please get in touch. This is called AC-coupling, the AC Powerwall 2 communicates with the Tesla Gateway to determine when to charge and when to discharge.
The Tesla Powerwall 2 is manufactured in Tesla’s Gigafactory based in Nevada in the United States of America providing a high quality manufacturing and quality assurance process. Powerwall 2 is rated for both indoor and outdoor installation. A qualified Dunton Group representative can visit your home or business and help determine what the most suitable solution would be, or we can assist with any questions remotely via phone or email.
There is little to no maintenance required for a Tesla Powerwall, Tesla can update the firmware on your Powerwall remotely via software updates to keep your Powerwall operating at its absolute best performance.
Your Tesla Powerwall can be charged and discharged multiple times per day, this effectively matches surplus solar generation with periods when your energy usage exceeds what your solar system is producing on a regular basis. If your solar system is producing more power than your home is using and your Powerwall is fully charged, the excess solar power will be sold to the grid as per usual.
The other strength of using Tesla products is that Tesla warrants that your Powerwall will be free from defects for 10 years following the date it was first installed. In order to provide the full 10 year warranty period, Tesla requires the ability to update your Powerwall through remote firmware upgrades. Dunton Group will help connect your Powerwall to your home Wi-Fi network and register your system with Tesla. When your Powerwall is installed and connected to the internet, Tesla will update your Powerwall through over-the-air software upgrades from time to time as required. This helps to ensure your Powerwall is operating at its best.
